As a native of South Louisiana, I love Mardi Gras!! However, it is not the boob-flashing, Bourbon Street experience I love. I simply go ga-ga over country town Mardi Gras festivities. The food, booze, and fun is boundless!! And you don’t get trampled by a bunch of drunk co-eds. It’s a win-win!!

One of the things I miss most about being back home at this time of year is King Cake!! That beautifully moist, slightly flaky pastry filled with any choice of flavor you could dream. My favorite is the classic cinnamon swirl. There is nothing more warming and delightful than that cinnamon goodness.

The grocery stores in Houston try, but it’s just not the same. So my new mission is to make my sweet memories become reality. I can do this, right!

And don’t worry. No plastic babies were harmed in the making of my confections. 🙂
