Spring is in the Air
After a harsh winter, It’s nice to see life starting a new and spring’s beautiful rebirth fills the air. This time of year is perfect for purging and starting fresh. Before leaving my old job, I was able to order a good deal of furniture with my discount. One has to save money where they can, you know?!?
The dining room during The Great Purge of 2022.
With big pieces on the way, it was the perfect tie to purge and reorganize the dining room. The decluttering was quite the taxing endeavor, but Carter and I came out of it alive. We relocated some of the furniture to the extra bedroom to give it a little pizazz. We packed boxes for garage sale and some for trash. And I was able to pack away the majority of the dining room inhabitants neatly into the entryway closet.
As the euphoria of accomplishment hit, it sparked the creative bug in me. I was compelled to build my spring table! I had to change it up this year, especially after skipping the last two years for this tablescape. Carter had purchased a 3-tiered silver server at an estate sale and told me I could use it. At the time I didn’t know what I was going to do with it, but alas after months of sitting in the garage, it was ready to shine!! Or at least after a good polishing, it was ready.
Using the server as my base; I incorporated moss, spheres, flowers, and butterflies. I mixed these ”natural” elements in with my spring dinnerware and found pieces to create a range of heights and colors throughout the table.
After setting the table with the olive wood flatware, Cater walks by and says,”It would look better with gold flatware.” Are you giving me permission to buy more flatware?!?
The table had gold flatware the next day! Haha. It definitely does look better.
One of my favorite new additions to the table this year are the cloisonné flower napkin rings. That variation in the blue and its pop of brightness against the muted, mixed napkins was just too good to pass up. It’s the perfect pairing against the Floral Meadow Butterfly plates.
This table is always one of my favorites. I love butterflies and consider them messengers from loved ones we have lost along the way. So this one holds a special place in my heart. I hope you love it as much as I do.
I also was tasked with the project of creating a new floral arrangement for the dining room window. My best friend, Joey, and I went on a flower shopping spree. My favorite parts of this arrangement are the mini heads of cabbage, the white glitter butterflies, and the white draping wisteria. The mini cabbage are the cutest things ever!! They nestle in and seemingly become large green flowers in a tapestry of pinks, greens, and white. The butterflies are a nod to the table and the decor through the rest of the house. I prefer decorating just for spring as opposed to Easter. That way I don’t have to change the decor too soon!
I know it sounds a bit lazy, but it takes a lot of effort to set up. But this year I may have went a little Easter Crazy in the Living room. Just take a look. I hung Garland, made bows, and did a little more flower arranging.
It looks spectacular, Jonathan!!! Love love it! You left WS?
