The Holiday Season has happened upon us yet again. It feels like just yesterday, we were celebrating Easter. The grocery stores are filling up with cranberry and pumpkin spice flavored treats. Turkeys are piled high in every refrigerated case. We are primed and ready to host all of our families, and eat until we have to be crane lifted into a new location.

Thanksgiving dinner is seemingly stuck on repeat from turkey day until Christmas. So no matter how enthusiastic the individual when it comes to turkey and stuffing, those traditional flavors can grow tiresome. Then we become faced with the challenge of recreating the originals.IMG_0708

Thus, the Thanksgiving Shepherd’s Pie was born. The interplay of all these flavors in one glorious dish awakens memories of holidays past, and somehow transports our palette to new heights. I used ground turkey in this version, because it is easily accessible all year; however if you are creating this dish around the holidays utilizing the leftover roasted turkey is a great alternative.

Because I work at Williams-Sonoma, I am blessed with all the holiday pantry staples your heart could ever desire. In this recipe every shortcut utilizes WS products, but grocery store versions of the products featured will surely work in a pinch.

I hope that you and your family enjoy this wonderful dish. It is definitely an unconventional take on Thanksgiving. It is sure to spark conversation and delight everyone’s taste buds.
